Matthew Wood, Professor of Neuroscience, Chair of BioEscalator Management Board & entrepreneur

We approach the end of another busy year with the fantastic news that former tenant Theolytics has dosed its first patient in a Phase I/IIa ovarian cancer trial, and current tenant Infinitopes is heading towards clinical trials in oesophageal cancer in early 2025. Congratulations to both companies for making this impact on human health – one of the key objectives of the BioEscalator.

Other highlights of the quarter include welcoming our new Management Board members and insights from BioEscalator alum Moa Technology as it continues its rapid growth trajectory and groundbreaking advances in herbicide development.

Season’s greetings to you all for the festive period. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year when we publish our first annual report.

 Dr Claire Shingler, Business Manager

The BioEscalator was delighted to be shortlisted for the 'Driving an Interactive Community' award at the UK Science Park Association's 40th anniversary conference in October. It's an area embedded in our ethos, so recognition was very satisfying.

We continued to develop our community this quarter. Our alumni companies are an important part of this, and it was great to see some familiar faces at the vaccine production 'Lunch and Learn' we held in November. Current tenant management teams also enjoyed discussing the founder journey with BioEscalator alumnus Phil Jakeman, now co-founder and CEO of Match Bio, at one of our CxO Forums. In December, we will also hear from another alumna, CEO and serial entrepreneur, Danuta Jeziorska.

There is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and supportive team at the BioEscalator as an Apprentice Receptionist and Administration Assistant. Work in the heart of Oxford's cutting-edge biomedical innovation community while completing a Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship with the excellent team at Abingdon and Witney College. Applications are open, and you can find out more here.

Please get in touch if you'd like to join the BioEscalator community.
